Perspective of D-Neuron (Trace Amine Neuron) Research: From Novel Therapeutic Strategies
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent pharmacological studies have shown the importance of trace amine-associated receptor, type 1 (TAAR1), a subtype of trace amine receptors, to be a prospective target receptor for novel neuroleptics. Socalled D-neuron (trace amine (TA) neuron) is the ligand neuron of TAAR1. In 1984, Jaeger et al. specified D-neuron groups from D1 (the spinal cord) to D14 (the bed nucleus of stria terminalis) in the rat central nervous system (CNS). Later, the author and her colleagues reported D15 (striatum), D16 (the nucleus accumbens, Acc), D17 (basal forebrain) and D18 (cerebral cortex), rostrally to D14, in human brains by using a PTC (Patent Cooperation Treaty)-patent-requiring method. The forebrain D-neuron system was far developed in the human. We also found lack of D-neurons in D16 (Acc) of post-mortem brains of patients with schizophrenia [1-3].

Why D-neuron? Importance in schizophrenia research
Recent pharmacological discovery on trace amineassociated receptor, type 1(TAAR1) has emphasized importance of trace amines in pathogenesis of psychoses, such as schizophrenia. TAAR1 has many ligands, including tyramine, β-phenylethylamine (PEA), amphetamines, and 3’-iodothyronamine. Socalled D-neurons are putative producer of trace amines, endogenous ligands of TAAR1. The D-neuron is defined “...
متن کاملHarvesting of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from live rats and the in vitro differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells into neuron-like cells
In the bone marrow, there are certain populations of stem cell sources with the capacity to differentiate into several different types of cells. Ideally, cell transplants would be readily obtainable, easy to expand and bank, and capable of surviving for sufficient periods of time. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) possess all of these characteristics. One of the most important benefi...
متن کاملGeneration of motor neurons from human amygdala-derived neural stem-like cells
Objective(s): Among several cell sources, adult human neural stem/progenitor cells (hNS/PCs) have been considered outstanding cells for performing mechanistic studies in in vitro and in vivo models of neurological disorders as well as for potential utility in cell-based therapeutic approaches. Previous studies addressed the isolation and culture of hNS/PCs from human neocortical and hippocampal...
متن کاملImplementation of a programmable neuron in CNTFET technology for low-power neural networks
Circuit-level implementation of a novel neuron has been discussed in this article. A low-power Activation Function (AF) circuit is introduced in this paper, which is then combined with a highly linear synapse circuit to form the neuron architecture. Designed in Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistor (CNTFET) technology, the proposed structure consumes low power, which makes it suitable for the...
متن کاملPM494. So-called D-neuron (trace amine neuron) is a new clue for schizophrenia research: From therapeutic direction
So-called D-neuron (trace amine (TA) neuron) is the ligand neuron of trace amine-associated receptor, type 1 (TAAR1). Reduced stimulation of TAAR1 on dopamine (DA) neurons in the midbrain ventral tegmental area (VTA) has been revealed to increase firing frequency of VTA DA neurons. A Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT)-required histochemical methods (K. Ikemoto) were used to specify subgroups of D-...
